The Fusano Story

In 1909, my grandfather "Papa-Non", Cristo Fusano, arrived at Ellis Island from Bari, Italy. He grew up where olive trees grew in abundance by the shores of the glistening Adriatic Sea. He wanted to share in the American dream and use his knowledge and skill to grow and produce superior olives.

After leaving Ellis Island, he set out for the San Fernando Valley in Southern California

where friends and family were waiting. There he started to work on his dream, first by working for the Sylmar Olive Co., owner of the largest olive grove and mill in the world, and then by purchasing some of those olive groves for his own with his small amount of precious savings. The groves were fruitful and soon "Papa-Non" was able to start his own olive processing mill. He and "Nana" had eleven children, most of whom worked in the business known as Cristo Fusano & Sons. Their

"San Fernando Valley Brand" olives and cold pressed extra virgin olive oil was in demand throughout the nation. A tradition was born.

Today, I am putting the same loving care into continuing the family tradition with

Fusano California Valley Brand. With the guidance of my father, Mike, who worked in the Fusano groves and olive mill all of his adult life, I intend to bring the highest quality specialty products from the groves and farms to you - years of experience since 1909.
