The Fusano Story
In
1909, my grandfather "Papa-Non", Cristo Fusano, arrived at Ellis
Island from Bari, Italy. He grew up where olive trees grew in abundance
by the shores of the glistening Adriatic Sea. He wanted to share in the
American dream and use his knowledge and skill to grow and produce superior
olives.
After
leaving Ellis Island, he set out for the San Fernando Valley in Southern
California

Olive Processing |
where
friends and family were waiting. There he started to work
on his dream, first by working for the Sylmar Olive Co., owner of the
largest olive grove and mill in the world, and then by purchasing some
of those olive groves for his own with his small amount of precious
savings. The groves were fruitful and soon "Papa-Non" was
able to start his own olive processing mill. He and "Nana"
had eleven children, most of whom worked in the business known as Cristo
Fusano & Sons. Their

"San Fernando Valley Brand" olives and cold pressed extra
virgin olive oil was in demand throughout the nation. A tradition was
born.
Today,
I am putting the same loving care into continuing the family tradition

California Valley Brand. With the guidance of my father,
Mike, who worked in the Fusano groves and olive mill all of his adult
life, I intend to bring the highest quality specialty products from
the groves and farms to you - years of experience since 1909.
